【English】
My work is born from a ritual of extracting light to its absolute limit.
Using a fully mechanical, non-electric medium format camera and the 1970s lens "Barathrum" (The Abyss)—a massive block of brass and glass—as my sacred instruments, I treat the light from a monitor as my ink (Sumi). The moment the shutter is released, the mirror flips up and the viewfinder plunges into pitch black. In this absolute darkness, completely severed from the outside world, an irrevocable trace of light (a "one-stroke" performance) is physically inscribed onto the film.I completely reject multiple exposures and digital synthesis. Underlying this is the calligraphy principle "Ji wa Tai o Arawasu"—the written character reveals the exact state of the writer's soul and body. Thus, the fixed image is not a depiction of the real world, but a visual distortion; a raw fossil of my body and spirit at the exact moment of creation. In an era flooded with effortless AI generation and disposable acts of photography, this is my cold antithesis. True creation cannot arise from algorithms. It is the absolute embodiment of 'Tewaza' (masterful handcraft) grounded in fundamental principles—a physical fact that art can only be imprinted on the world through the ultimate creative instrument: the human body, containing all its Angore (struggle) and resilience.
BIOGRAPHY
BIOGRAPHY
After 8 years(53,000 hours) of mastering photography's fundamentals in a portrait studio, he began an exploration of self-expression in 2010, spurred by profound personal struggle. Working in solitude, holding no interest in the work of other artists and guided solely by his inner world, he perfected the Kōbokuhō method after a 15-year journey of development. He has designated 2025 as "Year One of Kōbokuhō," the year he begins to challenge the world with this expression.
